SSP Biography: James Hammerton |

I grew up in Bothwell, near Glasgow. After leaving school, I studied for a degree in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh. Having graduated this year (1994), I will be starting a PhD in Natural Language Processing at the University of Birmingham in October.
My interests and hobbies include politics, environmental issues, karate, watching films, going out to the pub, and science fiction. I also like listening to music, where my interests tend to be anything goes so long as it's tuneful! I used to play the 'cello and may take it up again at some point.
