Mark White is currently in his fourth year studying Physics with Computer Applications at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Following his Honours graduation in 1995, he intends either to begin a PhD is some related area, though he favours beginning a career in industry. He has gained valuable experience, while working for the electronics companies, Unisys and GEC-Marconi Avionics.

He has been a class respentative for his fellow students for three years, and is one of the founding members of a new debating society at Heriot-Watt University. In his spare time he enjoys listening to classical music, and is an avid reader of popular science. He keeps fit by cycling to university every day, swims on a regular basis, and attends the university badminton club.

Mark grew up in the local Edinburgh area. He attended West Calder High school, where his interest in science grew. Heriot-Watt University was nearby and he commuted there from home for the first two years. He now lives away from home in Edinburgh.
